SAT Study Apps

Girl Using SAT AppThe next date to take the SAT – January 28, 2012 – is rapidly approaching. If you plan on taking the SAT this weekend, check out these last minute study tips.

Along with the more traditional methods – study guides, tutors, classes, etc. – there are plenty of smartphone and iPad apps that can help you prepare.

Here are a few of our favorite SAT apps.

5200 Best SAT Words
This free iPhone app is an easy way to brush up on the most common SAT vocabulary worlds on a a regular basis. It has words that range from easy to extremely difficult that you can review every day up until the SAT. You can even email any words to your friends, so they can brush up as well.

SAT Connect 
This iPhone/iPad app was originally priced at $24.99, but is currently free for a limited time. It has everything you need to study anywhere, anytime to help you score higher on the SAT. It includes more than 800 questions, multiple diagnostic tests and thousands of words in flashcard form.  You will also be able to access real time feedback and performance analysis.

Mathemagics 
This a very inexpensive iPhone app ($1.99) that is a great way to learn some useful mental math tricks. With enough practice, this app will help you become less reliant on your calculator as SAT-day approaches. There’s are math tricks you can use even after you take the SAT, especially if you choose to take the GMAT or MCAT in college.

SAT Vocabulary
This is an app for your Android smartphone. It has around 5,000 words – along with their definitions – for you to scroll through and learn. As you get to know certain words, you can mark them as “learned,” so it will only show you words you don’t know yet.

Fun Math Tricks 
This app is similar to Mathemagics, except it’s for Android phones. It is filled with tons of mental math tricks to help you prepare for most standardized tests. If you are easily frustrated by math, this app is perfect for you.

Test Your English Vocab
This is another vocabulary app for those with Android phones. It has words that will help prepare you for just about any standardized test. It also includes a selection of fun games that will help it feel less like you are studying and more like you are having fun.
