Top 5: Spotted on Campus Posts

SpottedonCampusAs we make our way into what will no doubt be an exciting and productive 2012, let’s look back at one of our favorite series: Spotted on Campus. In this weekly column we share fun and relevant events and trends taking place on campuses throughout the country.

Here are our Top 5 Spotted on Campus posts from 2011.

1. High School Films
We shared some of the most popular films set in high school … and the campuses where they were filmed. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Clueless, Mean Girls and Varsity Blues are also “classic” films that give the audience a glimpse into the high school experience. Check out the comments on this post – our readers connected with the topic and enjoyed discussing the various films that were shot at their schools.

3. College Movies
Much like our post on popular films set in high school, this version of Spotted on Campus covered several of the well-known college films that were shot on campus throughout the country. Check out the list, and tell us what we missed. What is your favorite college movie? What movies were filmed on your campus?

4. Zipcar
Last month, we took a look at the Zipcar, a popular car-sharing program that has been popping up on college campuses throughout the U.S.  Sometimes taking a car to college is not an option, which is okay 99% of the time – since most college towns are set up to make student life convenient. Zipcar gives students, who are normally too young to rent a car, a convenient option for accessing a car when they need it.

5. Unique Welcome Week Events
Schools enjoy welcoming new students, as much as the students are excited to begin their new college experience. Every school welcomes their new “class” with a special twist, and the schools we looked at – Rutgers UniversityUniversity of Iowa and University of Central Oklahoma - certainly like to have fun! Honorable Mention: We also took a look at how campuses engage potential new students with our Spotted on Campus focusing on Unique College Tours.
